The &lt;a rel="nofollow" href="http://laptop.org/" rel="nofollow"&gt;One Laptop per Child (OLPC)&lt;/a&gt; initiative aims to create a $100 notebook computer for emerging countries.  A while back, Gates &lt;a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.wired.com/science/discoveries/news/2006/04/70584" rel="nofollow"&gt;made fun of the project&lt;/a&gt;, teasing the solar panel and secondary mechanical battery charger and for not running his shitty Windows OS.  But now his company has muscled its way into the product &lt;a rel="nofollow" href="http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/one-laptop-per-child/olpc-now-175-and-windows-xp-ready-255831.php" rel="nofollow"&gt;and almost doubled the price&lt;/a&gt; ($175) -- oh, it comes with Windows now.</description>

		<description>The man is focusing on the AIDS crisis on Africa instead of Microsoft so I don't really care if he makes more money, but I am all for better products.  Can't say I have any idea what Linux is like but when I finally spill so much wine on my laptop that it gives up on me I might be looking a little deeper into my options.</description>
